What's wrong with my turn signals--2000 Volkswagen Passat Wagon?

I have a 2000 Volkswagen Passat Wagon (GLX Likeness), and the turn signals intermittently don't flash. Sometimes they do/sometimes they just light up but don't "not working"--either in the dashboard or on the outside of the car . . . Does anyone have any suggestions about what could be off the target and how to go about having it fixed?

The to signal flasher relay is part of the emergency flasher switch. A very ordinary failure but I am not aware of a recall on them. Replace the emergency flasher lash and you should be good to go.

The car is a v6 with under 50,000 miles.

The bad part about getting a morality price for your car at a dealership is that they're gonna come back with a "number" that should be adequate because they have to top off/replace fluids, change, balance, and mount new tires, and then go through some 100+ position inspection. In truth, they will put your car out there and make a SUPER profit on it, because you knew the same aspect they did; it's quite a valuable asset.

Going the newspaper route leaves residents in the dark. They don't know much information about the car unless what is stipulated in the ad or by what you tell them over the phone. That and newspaper ads get extravagant with all the "look at me" details and number of words/symbols.

Posting online is the way to go, since we're all on the 'Net. The ad gets more coverage since people will travel for a documentation deal, no limit on words/characters, you can add pictures, and you can include the VIN# so they can do a CARFAX write-up on the car. Most dealers won't let you see a CARFAX on the car and will tell you "it's all good."
