Why does my Volkswagen Passat keep revving on its own when turned off?

I noticed today that my 2000 Volkswagen Passat is making skimpy revving noises on a regular basis, even though it is turned off. The sound only lasts a few seconds at a culture, and seems to be coming from the lower passenger side of the engine, but I can't seem to find any moving fans. Should I be distressed?

I have a 1999 Volkswagen Passat and down-and-out the turning signal in a small fender bender. I want to substitute the turning signal, but can't find any screws to take the broken signal out. Does someone have savoir vivre working with Volkswagens?

I presume you are talking about front turn signal - if so there is a spring with the hook inside that holds it - look from inside, you will see it.

I am cogitative of buying a used car, and recently a used 2002 volkswagen passat went to tghe top of the listing. What do you know about the car and would you recommend it?

I have a 02 Passat. I have 80k miles on it and have not had a disturbed. But I have the 1.8T engine. I have a friend who purchased the 6 cylinder model of the same year and has nothing but problems. If it is the 1.8T I would support it. The 1.8T with a manual trans gets around 30MPG. I like my car very much.
