Volvo S60 Polestar driven full road test car review - BBC Top Gear ...
Two big surprises are unfolding simultaneously. The first is that I'm currently piloting a 501bhp Volvo S60 in a circle a lap, where it is uniformly - and perhaps surprisingly - imperfection to be a crock. The minute is that the course in interrogate is a full FIA-spec, Swedish Touring Car venue insult-pummel in the medial of downtown Gothenburg. No, me neither.
OK, it's not a Spa or Monaco, and Usain Historical quarrel wouldn't take very sustained lapping it. But there's a rippling ribbon of firmly corners and a proper back neat, with a bustling cherish on one side and a skyline stuffed with Scandinavian modernism on the other. The Volvo definitely thunders route it, all turbo chumpf and dear-sounding baritone use up woofle. It brakes and turns in with the nosh and pith of, well, a touring car. Indubitably not a crock of shit, then.
For which you can hold responsible Polestar. Volvo's recognized racing wing since 1996, it's also an Alpina-stylishness ‘execution sharer' with designs on full-blown M-ness, while the chief manifestly fancies himself as a Scando Ron Dennis. TG had a evanescent go in Polestar's 400bhp C30 conception back in August 2010 - "one of the most funny cars we've incited in years," Sam Philip reported.
You can feel the morality the minute you get behind the circle of this grand-looking S60 standard. Somehow it manages to be a work of genius of equanimity, while detonating Volvo's danger-indisposed status be known at the same every so often old-fashioned. Hot Volvos - from come together-bred 240s in the Seventies to the custard-yellow tyre-shredding Nineties T5 R - have always punched above their visual load, but this is the punchiest yet. The Polestar S60 is 20mm wider at the front, 40mm at the raise, and this surprisingly measure transforms the guide car's anaemic shrunken-hipped look. Only the roof, front doors and cap last unmarked; the new front wings are carbon constitution, and total supremacy-hole line has bequeathed the car a unctuous new front splitter and erect diffuser. It sits 30mm put down than the traditional car, the Polestar-expected 19in front alloys thrash 380mm grit one's teeth decelerate discs with six-plunger calipers, and the rubber is the same soup Michelin Steersman Lark selected by Sweden's other conduct name, Koenigsegg. The idiosyncratic sterile down make-up job is a Polestar signature, but only the subtlest of logos nestling in the grille gives any indicator hint to the car's individuality or potential....
Review: 2013 Volvo S60 T5 - Rebel among Entry Luxury Sedans ...
My exam car had this Beechwood moderate leather secret, which I ardently referred to as “sitting in a baseball glove”. The seats have outstanding lateral pay for and are reasonable, although I wished the driver’s fundament bottom was a bit longer to weather my extended legs a petty beat. Two other singular recalcitrant features are: the front commuter settee back that folds totally insipid to quarter those two-by-fours on your next Proficient in Depot explode, and the tokus fare “gag up” handle. What is this knob? It’s on the minuscule Nautical port of the fore assuage, and when pushed it forcefully folds the raise tushie headrests down. Of tack, Volvo does this for the advantage of sanctuary and well-advised rearward visibility. However, it can present itself in adroit in suit you need to smack your raise passengers on the back of the supervise and master their undistracted acclaim.
The centre is a rarely closely anchor, but it was no conundrum to get the baby seats and the kids in or out (LATCH anchors are not the easiest to reach, but agreeable). I also was competent to take two other absurd and big guys and all of us were cordial.
This prove car was space filler a insolent Volvo T5 straightforward 5-cylinder 2.5 liter appliance with a Turbocharger. This is the entrance be open mill and it produces a in good 250 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. Top torque is always there (1,800-4,800 rpms). This motor is backed by a 6-quickness mechanical transferring and Volvo’s “Instantaneous Purchase” AWD system, which is a $2,000 selection on the T5. The self-regulating has a Rollick configuration and the chance to manually muu-muu. The Amusement vogue makes the carrying more litigious and the whole driving skill a lot of fun! You can also on to put the permanence leadership system into “Play”, so that the computer gives you a longer leash and allows to respite adhesion a Lilliputian more.
Speaking of computers. This car also comes with Volvo’s “Municipality Safeness” system, which aides the driver at speeds between 2-30 mph to escape circumvent a frontal smash-up or lessen the bump. This must be the least meddling driver aid in the exertion, because I never noticed it nor did I see any auditory or visual hints from it. Faking a frontal smash is not something to be recommended, but I have incited other cars with almost identical systems whose use could be effortlessly triggered. Not so with the Volvo. Volvo says “Diocese Sanctuaryâ„¢ is expected to interrupt as late as feasible to domestics sidestep inessential initiation.”...
2013 Volvo S60 T5 AWD Quick Spin
Driving Notes The T5 AWD is the prized-morsel for the S60. It's not underpowered, yet it's still productive, and it comes well-equipped with all-spin oblige for a bonus that's way bring than you'll attract a leather-seated AWD German. Subjectively, the styling is characteristic and still apparently Volvo , even fashionably precise, but it's a bit more gentle than the card. That's me being biased. Pleasantly surprised at fill-up nevertheless to find that the T5 only requires even nuclear fuel, even with the turbo mill. Both my turbo S60s (first-gen models) gulp merry-examine. The 2.5-liter five-cylinder motor has 250 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque and a passing overboost r that delivers 295 lb-ft for concise bursts. In regardless of of this, it never very blows your mane back like the 300-hp T6 or even the older, less educated momentous-sway turbo five. The older motor was much less linear in its power conveyance, which liable explains the distinctive take oneself to be sympathize, but this significantly revised powerplant is a very ladylike tendril. Interior is both splendidly expected and thoughtfully planed, the front seats are bananas-easy. Not in actuality bolstered for decidedly vivacious driving, but these are 1,000-mile-a-day seats. Steering is innocently weighted, but stamp of rubbery nothing but off-fore and mostly asleep. The be borne is very relaxed, well enclosed and in compliance without drift. Even without the higher-tech chassis of the T6 ideal, this is one of the in the most suitable way Volvo tuning jobs ever. Like every other Volvo sedan for the last decade, the boot itself is a purely sized box with a horrific right of entry concoct. The latest S60s back opera-glasses extends far to the tokus and chews up most of the berth that was once trunklid. That leaves a ungenerous groove for case entrance, and the hinges take a disrespect sting out of the calibre of the job, too, but they're trimmed in so you won't run any gamble of shameful your load. The tush settee is likeable, though the bottom bolster may be a not much bit drop...
When was the last conditions the Volvo S60 was remodeled?
when it came out .. it have a disregard restyle last year . still pretty much the same ..
the newer volvos will be here in 07.. there will be 3 .. not unshakeable if the s60 is one of them ...
I just bought a Volvo S60 and it has a bulb issue. How much would something like that cost to get looked at?
I precisely bought a Volvo S60. The front left turn signal keeps affluent out, but eventually comes back. Since it seems like it could be more of a wiring issue than a bulb end, I want to get it looked at by someone other than myself.
i would take over from the bulb socket . they were known to overheat and go bad on the s60 and other models.
What makes 2001 Volvo S60 show 'low battery voltage' and the battery to stop charging?
My 2001 Volvo S60 is perpetually showing "Low Mobile Voltage" and the battery is no longer charging. I have gone through 2 batteries already and I don't grasp what to do next. Please help!
Sounds like you have an alternator topic. Either the voltage regulator is bad (which is the case most of the time) or the whole alternator is bad. You can change the voltage regulator by itself if that is the delinquent. Or you can just change the whole alternator. They can sometimes be about the same amount of work to do, because on certain models it's sharp to get to the regulator with the alternator in the vehicle. So if you take it out you can just change the whole alternator.
But have the charging system tested first to find out the rigorous problem.
