How in a recover from so many car companys make these concept cars and never manufacture them for people to buy? I love some of the ideas but for some rationalization because of we cant buy the cars. What is the point of making them if your not going to sell them?

Concept cars are form exercises made to show audiences at car shows what future cars may look like. They pinch the designers get an idea of what the public likes, or doesn't like in new car designs.

They are not all intended for end result, but some styling cues from different concept cars may end up on production vehicles in a few years.

I always see these pictures of concept cars unveiled at car shows, but I wonder what happens to them. Do they actually work and run or are they just shells of connivance? Do they get dismantled or end up in a museum?

the positive ones get sold to collectors, others get crunched. Some are just mockups/frame studies and don't actually move under their own power.

What do automakers do with their concept cars when they finish showing them?

Can a mortal physically buy them? Do they give them to employees? Do they destroy them or put them in a museum? Concept cars are usually way cool and even cooler then the unchangeable production model. How can I get one?

A lot of the concept cars are counterfeit, they are made of clay or they put a fiberglass body over an existing chassis. These are concept only models to value public reaction to the looks of the new car. If the reactions are good, then they build a working exemplar. If no one likes the idea, then they scrap it and go back to the drawing board.
Working models are toured around the nation and are even taken to Europe and Japan for auto shows.
The working prototypes hesitate at around for a long time. I've seen an old film where designers go to a warehouse and contemplation old prototypes so they know what worked and what didn't work.
